The Prophet
Book, AD 2004*, Paper
This book, The Prophet, which was first published in 1923, is the most famous work by Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931), the famous writer, poet and artist, who lived in Lebanon and the United States of America. He came from a Maronite family and was born in the village of Bsharri, which is quite close to Toula. The book has twenty-six fables which deal with various aspects of life and human experience. This book reflects the literary interests of the village of Toula, and the poetry by Mikhail Farah (1927-1975) from the village, whose book in the green cover is in the background of this image, is in the tradition of Gibran.
