Plate (Cedar Tree in Colour)
Plate, late 20th century AD, Brass and enamel, d. 21 cm
This decorative plate is made of brass and coloured with enamel. It has a green and brown cedar tree in relief in the centre. Beneath the tree is the name ‘LEBANON’ in relief in English. The central design is enclosed in a raised circle. The rim is decorated by two rows of triangles in relief. It is characteristic of plates that are sold as tourist items in Lebanon and it generally reflects the nationalistic feeling of the country.
