Kerosene Burner
Kerosene burner, mid-20th century AD, Steel
This kerosene burner is of a typical design which is found throughout the world. It has, at the bottom, three feet and, at the top, three vertical metal pieces with horizontal ends, which support the pot which is being heated. Kerosene is poured into the receptacle at the bottom through a hole which is covered by a small lid. The long piece of metal, which can be retracted at the side, is used to regulate the supply of kerosene to the flame. Such burners are important for boiling water and for cooking food, which are activities that are fundamental to human life, and, thus, to the life of the people of the village.
