Cedar Wood Plaque (Vertical)
Cedar wood plaque, late 20th century AD, Painted wood
This plaque is made of cedar, which is the tree that is famous in Lebanon, particularly from the area near the village of Toula. This piece shows the beautiful nature of the timber. It features a small image of three Maronite saints, including St Maron at the bottom. On the right are two lines of Arabic painted in black. The plaque is characteristic of the iconography of the Maronite church, which appears in religious art in various contexts.
