Bowl (Copper Plated)

Bowl, late 20th century AD, Steel plated with copper, d. 18 cm

This bowl, which is made of steel and plated with copper, has a rounded body leading to a rim and flat base, with a small metal handle attached just beneath the rim.  This small handle may have been used to hang the bowl on the wall, when it was not in use.  It was likely to have been manufactured elsewhere, and imported into the village.  Steel bowls, such as this, have a variety of uses in the village, including the storage of small items, or use at significant cultural events.  They are thus central to the social life of the village.
