Plate (Decorative)
Plate, late 20th century AD, Brass and enamel, d. 24 cm
This decorative plate is typical of items which are sold to tourists in Lebanon. It is made of brass and decorated with enamel. In the centre, three significant features of the country are represented, the cedars, Baalbek, the temple complex of the Roman period, and Beit Eddine, the early nineteenth century palace in central Lebanon. Around the central panel are six leaf shaped decorative elements with floral decorations. Such tourist items are sold in shops in tourist areas of Beirut and the other major cities, and at significant tourist sites.
