Grinder

Grinder, late 20th century AD, Iron and wood

This grinder has a cast iron body and a wooden handle.  It is attached to a bench top by a screw.  It has the inscriptions, on one side, the logo, ‘Spong’, and ‘Made in England’, on the other side, ‘No. 5’, and ‘Spong-‘, and, next to the grinder opening, ‘Spong, England’.  It was made by Spong and Company, London, England.  It has multiple uses, but one of the uses of such grinders is to make the traditional hrissi in the village, which is a mixture of minced meat and grain.
