Garments (Head Dress)

Garments: head dress, late 20th century AD, Cloth

These garments comprise a waistcoat and a head dress.  The waistcoat is black, and has embroidered decoration with black thread comprising floral patterns on its front panels, and spirals and lines along the edges at the front.  Its many buttons at the front are also covered in black thread and are secured by button holes made of black thread.  The head dress is white with black decoration, and the decoration is, in the centre, intertwined wave patterns, and, on the edge, zigzags and black and white lines. It has a black woven cord which surrounds the head.  It is a traditional garment, which is worn by Arab men in Lebanon and in the region of the Middle East, and was thus an important part of the culture of the village.
