Backgammon board
The backgammon board, which is called a ‘tewlet zuhher’ in Arabic, is made of many pieces of inlaid wood of different colours in a geometric design, and has playing pieces of black and white plastic. It folds closed with hinges and has raised sides to contain the pieces. The geometric design is characteristic of traditional design in the Arab world. Backgammon is an important game which is played in the village of Toula as a recreational pastime.
