Bowl (Steel)

Bowl, mid-20th century AD, Steel, d. 13 cm

This bowl, which is made of steel, has a rounded body and flat base, with, on opposite sides, two horizontal projecting handles.  It may originally have had a lid, which is missing.  It was likely to have been manufactured elsewhere, and imported into the village.  Lidded steel bowls, such as this, have a variety of uses in the village, including the storage of small items, or use at significant cultural events.  They are thus central to the social life of the village.
