Bowl (Copper, Flared Lip)

Bowl, mid-20th century AD, Copper

This copper bowl has a flared lip, a rounded body, and curved, convex, S-shaped, vertical ribs around the body and a flat base.  It was likely to have been manufactured elsewhere, and imported into the village.  Because of its elaborate ribbed decoration, it is likely to have been an object of significant importance.  Copper bowls, such as this, have a variety of uses in the village, including the storage of small items, or use at significant cultural events.  They are thus central to the social life of the village.
